How to get back on future mother in law good side?

her and i used to be really close till him and i fell out for a lil while but we are back together now. She is very protected of her son cause he was robed and shot in the head years ago. he is on disability and she has power of attorney over him. He don't even talk to me when she is around anymore. She is a major part of his life and this is important I love this man.
