Would a spark plug wires much longer the OEM plug wires affect acceleration performance?

i couldn't get the exact replacement for my 2000 volvo s40 turbo, so i got a pair that is used for a different volvo car. they fit alright, but this new one a lil' longer than the previous OEM. After running it for about 5 miles the car accelerates gradually but has lost the Kick-down effect from the turbo power.
